According to Greenpoint’s press release, Brian Hellings (57) and a visionary with more than three decades of aviation legacy, died January 21, 2013 in Seattle, Washington after a battle with cancer. He was born April 13, 1955 in Manchester, New Hampshire and was the eldest of 10 children. In 1974 he enlisted in the Air Force and served 8 years as a mechanic on the T-38 aircraft and later on the A-10 Warthog aircraft. Brian left the military in 1981 and was hired by The Boeing Company in Seattle as a Logistics Analyst. He promoted quickly within the organization to director level, setting many records during his career. In 2010 he retired from Boeing as Deputy Director for Derivative Airplanes, Executive Transport after 28 years of service. Brian joined Greenpoint shortly after as President of Greenpoint Aerospace. He is survived by his wife, three children, and grandson.

For this aircraft, Greenpoint partnered with design firm, Strack and Associates on the interior which showcases multiple rooms and is equipped with the latest in wireless technology. Odyssey Aerospace Components provided the cabinetry with inlays and cove ceilings.

 According to Greenpoint, the Aeroloft® allows interior installations to occur at multiple qualified facilities. The first set of installations was performed at Boeing’s Wichita, KS facility, but the most recent customer chose to install the Aeroloft® at their facility.

           Greenpoint first announced the prototype program at the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE) in 2009 and has worked with The Boeing Company for over a decade developing multiple solutions for VIP and Heads-of-State clients. The Aeroloft™ is Greenpoint’s latest innovation resulting from the companies’ collaboration.

 According to Greenpoint, the Aeroloft™ was developed specifically for the BBJ 747-8 and boasts eight private sleeping berths in the aft, upper section of the aircraft providing a comfortable rest area during flight.

Christine Hadley, Greenpoint spokeswoman, says:

“It’s extra square footage they can add on to the existing plane.”

The customer hasn’t been officially indentified, but markings on the plane suggest the buyer is Amiri Flight, private airline for the royal family of Qatar. The price of the addition has also been withheld.

Two more Aeroloft-equipped 747s are scheduled for delivery this year.

A team of over 60 employees and family members worked on the Seattle home installing new flooring and ceilings, replacing kitchen appliances, painting, cleaning, and planting and weeding the gardens.
