Will Christmas Day Attack Send People to Private Jets?

by Matt on December 30, 2009

Molly McMillin of The Wichita Eagle asks whether as security restrictions increase (and along with that, delays and other hassles), will more business people begin to consider using private jets?

Industry insiders disagree.

Airline consultant Robert Mann says yes:

“After the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks but before the current economic downturn, some business travelers opted out of scheduled airline service and began to use business aircraft…It is a preferred mode of transportation for people who have a high value of time and a high value of convenience.”

National Business Aviation Association president and CEO Ed Bolen says no:

“We did not see any empirical data to show a significant shift (to business aviation) after 9/11.”
