Glenn Pew, of AVWeb, [free registration required] says the FAA recently announced that Santa Monica’s ordinance banning large jets from landing at the local airport is unjust. The city of Santa Monica maintains the FAA is not following its own safety recommendations.
It looks like the FAA will obtain a legal order to stop the city, which will prompt the city to file an FAA appeal (which the FAA will probably deny), and then most likely to file a federal appeal.
