Ritu Sharma, of The Gaea News, is reporting that the government of India has finally received the three BBJs it ordered for top government officials, including the president and prime minister.

The planes, the latest Boeing Business Jet versions, will be able to carry 48 people and replace existing 20-year-old Boeing 737s.  They will be fitted with anti-missile technology, as well as secure communications equipment, and other security measures.

“The long range Boeing 737s, fitted with new CFM 56 engines made jointly by the US GE and French Snecma, are designed to function as command posts, in the event of an emergency. The jets are quieter, more fuel-efficient and have a long range of up to 6,000 nautical miles (11,100 km).”
